Daisy and Grace came to me at different times but we found very quickly that we were a good match all the way around. Both black Labs got along and were so willing to please me that they were a joy to be around every day. We had fun, chasing squirrels, keeping the birds from overtaking the yard, and barking at people and cars we didn't know.
When I lost them both within a month of each other I was devastated. 13 years of friendship, barks and giggles all gone in such a short time. I sat and literally cried for days. My house seemed so empty, I'd lost my two best friends.
Shortly after a week had passed, I called the Humane Society locally and asked about fostering a dog or puppy. I had no agenda but to bring some happiness into life again. I filed out the paperwork online and was approved. They called me a day or two later to let me meet my friend, but they called and said the puppy had been adopted already. A husky.
Okay, so I waited another week or two, and they called again, this time was for sure, I went over to the place I was told to go to meet the dog. There in a small carrier was the cutest little black Lab puppy!! I began crying, and the helper handed the crate down from the shelf. She was just adorable, and only about 4 or 5 months old, but some kind person has brought her up from a Rescue in Kentucky just for me, according to me. I cried all the way to the car.
So I had my new friend, whom I named Raven, black as can be and so sweet.
Later on a few weeks went by and my daughter told me about a Great Pyrenees she had seen at a rescue near her, so we drove up to get a look. At that point, she was just groomed and her fur shined like silk. Her name was April at that point, but later on she became Lucy, who is now 3+ years and every bit as beautiful as she was then. Lucy came from a rescue in Louisiana to Ohio, still young and full of energy! I took her ...and she's been with me ever since. She loves her little sister Raven, especially when they play zoomies in the yard.
